Herr Meier wohnt seit zehn Jahren in der gleichen Wohnung. Heute zieht ein neuer Nachbar ein. Er heißt Tom und kommt aus Kanada. Tom spricht nur wenig Deutsch. „Guten Tag, ich bin Tom“, sagt er. Herr Meier lächelt und hilft ihm mit den Kartons. Am Abend klingelt Tom an der Tür. Er hat eine Pizza in der Hand. „Danke für die Hilfe“, sagt er. Sie essen zusammen, und Herr Meier lernt ein paar Wörter Englisch. Jetzt hat er nicht nur einen Nachbarn, sondern auch einen Freund.

Mr. Meier has lived in the same apartment for ten years. Today a new neighbor is moving in. His name is Tom and he comes from Canada. Tom speaks only a little German. "Hello, I am Tom," he says. Mr. Meier smiles and helps him with the boxes. In the evening, Tom rings the doorbell. He has a pizza in his hand. "Thanks for the help," he says. Der Hund ist allein. „Wo ist dein Zuhause?“, fragt Lena. Am Halsband steht eine Telefonnummer. Sie rufen an. Eine Stunde später kommt eine glückliche Familie. „Danke!“, rufen die Kinder. Der Hund bellt fröhlich. Auf dem Heimweg sagt Max: „Das war der beste Samstag!“

On Saturday the sun is shining. Lena and her brother Max ride their bikes to the lake. The way is long, but beautiful. At the lake they swim and eat their sandwiches. Max sees a small dog. The dog is alone. "Where is your home?" asks Lena. On the collar there is a phone number. They call it. An hour later a happy family arrives. "Thank you!" the children shout. The dog barks happily. On the way home Max says: "That was the best Saturday!"
